Poland is one of the states that has an institute of certified or sworn translation. Almost all the documentation submitted to Polish administrative and governmental authorities must be translated exclusively by a sworn translator.

How do certified Polish translators work?

Examination for certified translator qualification is passed before the members of the examination board of the state level established in the Polish Republic under the Ministry of Justice. The examination is taken in two stages – in oral and written forms. After the exam is passed  the translator receives a personal round seal, that contains:

• his surname, name, and patronymic;
• personal number in the Register of Certified Translators;
• language from which and into which he is empowered to translate.

Each document, that he translates, must be sealed with his seal. Moreover, this document should contain a typical legal clause (this is a special provision in legal translation) in which the translator affirms the fidelity and accuracy of the translation in conformance with the original. Each translation certified in this way is registered in the special State Register likewise notarial documents.

Translations executed and certified by sworn translators have the highest quality, as they are personally and legally responsible for them. They may be used in courts as evidence, furthermore, the translator is an official representative of the state.
